about kerri
BSc Hons, MA
Researcher - History, Sociology, Anthropology, TV, Extremism and Counter-Terrorism
With an exceptional aptitude for research and a love of connecting directly with communities, I excel in settings that try to make a difference. I am currently working with the Policing Institute for the Eastern Region (PIER), where I lead the systematic review of online recruitment patterns for non-violent extremism and counterterrorism. Previous positions include The Tobacco Control Research Group, where I helped monitor the underhand tactics of the tobacco industry and its undermining of national health policies.
Research is my love, but getting its messaging out into real-world environments is vital. I have worked with Its My Shout and Yeti TV in the Film and TV Industry. I have developed extensive marketing experience stemming from my work with Nottingham News Centre and as a Heritage Vlogger and Researcher for the Black Miners Museum. I am skilled in social media, graphic design, video, and marketing materials production.
My passion for history and heritage and their effect on our current environs has taken me into many industries, including TV and film, health and wellbeing, policing and social projects, anthropological research, and my personal love—genealogy. I love uncovering hidden stories that have contributed to the world on my doorstep.
I am an MA Anthropology student at the University of Bristol and a BSc (Hons) Sociology graduate from the University of Bath, where I was particularly excited to learn about the Sociology of Death.
